Recipe Swap

Are you and your buddies always competing with who makes the best cake, or Sunday dinner or even the best mojito on the weekend? Do you want to turn your creative skills into a fundraiser for the East Cheshire Hospice? Then we have the challenge for you!

Set you, your friends and family the challenge of creating something new in the kitchen every week for a month… Or two! Pick a new theme each week such as…

  • Roast dinner
  • Pie
  • Chilli Con Carne
  • Birthday cake
  • Cheesecake
  • Or even cocktails!

Vote for your favourite recipe (you can’t pick your) and you will have a winner every week! The winner could share their recipe for everyone to enjoy their creation. Ask for donations to be part of the competition or to buy a portion of the culinary master pieces each week.

This can become a regular fundraiser or a one-off recipe swap sensation!

How do I start fundraising?

The best way to collect sponsorship would be to take cash on the day of the event. We have plenty of collection buckets and pots you can use for your event, please see contact details below of how to get in touch with us.

If you want to keep your donations online, start by setting up your Just Giving page here and follow the simple step-by-step process to creating your fundraising page. Make sure to fill in the details about your recipe swap fundraiser, set yourself a fundraising target, share your page with friends and family on social media, email, WhatsApp, text… And away you go!

Taking on this challenge and raising sponsorship for East Cheshire Hospice really will make a difference to local people and their families who are cared for here. The Hospice has to raise over 80% of its running costs from voluntary donation and fundraising, this equates to over £7,500 every single day. Your contribution really will make a difference.

Ping Pong Fight Club

It is time to shine and let those hidden ping pong skills free! Create your own Ping Pong Fight Club fundraising event and go head to head with family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, anyone that wants to get involved and raise those vital funds for East Cheshire Hospice.

How do I get started?

Start by getting in touch with your local sports centre and see if you can hire out some of the ping pong equipment for an afternoon. Organise someone or a couple of people to umpire the event and keep a leader board score. Ask participants to donate £5 to take part in the competition or £2 for spectators. Organise prizes for the winners, and you could even have a food and drinks stand set up for the day.

If you have your own ping pong table at home, why not gather some friends and hold a smaller scale competition.

There is only one rule for Ping Pong Fight Club: Tell EVERYONE about Ping Pong Fight Club!

It costs £7,500 to keep the Hospice running for 1 day, so every penny that you can raise is important. You may never know exactly how your support will help but you can be assured that the impact your support will have on local families who can benefit from the Hospice services at one of the most difficult and emotional times will be huge and ever so appreciated.

Make A Podcast

Do you have a particular passion or interest that you feel like you could talk about for hours?

These days it’s super easy to record and upload, or simply livestream your own podcast for all the world to hear! Why not share your passion and knowledge while raising funds for East Cheshire Hospice?

Now we’re talking…

To create a fundraising podcast you’ll need a topic, some ideas to talk about and ideally some basic recording equipment. You could involve different guests related to the topic, plan games and activities and even involve your audience with ‘call ins’ or Q&As.

For the fundraising aspect, the easiest thing to do is to set up a JustGiving page which you can direct people to and encourage to donate when they listen. You can even livestream directly from a JustGiving page! You’ll want to mention your fundraising plenty in your podcast to remind people why you’re doing it and get them donating!

All the ideas but no gear?

So, you’ve got your topic and ideas for your podcast, but how do you actually make and distribute it??

It’s up to you how serious you get with this one. If you want to keep it simple, most computers or even your phone will have a fairly decent microphone which you can use to record or livestream your show. If you don’t fancy livestreaming you can upload your podcast onto a website such as Soundcloud for free.

If you want to get a bit more get serious with your podcast, you’ll want a set of headphones, a proper microphone and some recording software. This might sound complicated and expensive but these days you can pick up these things quite cheaply online. If you want your podcast to appear on streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music, you’ll then need to choose a ‘host’. Click here for a guide to creating your own podcast.

Don’t forget to make it easy for people to donate!

Make sure you set up your Just Giving page so your listeners can donate to your cause. Click here and follow the simple step-by-step process to creating your fundraising page. Make sure to fill in the details about your challenge, set yourself a fundraising target and add a link to your podcast if you’re sharing it elsewhere. Share your page with friends and family on social media, email, WhatsApp, text… and away you go!
