East Cheshire Hospice patron Joe Corrigan has received his MBE from the Prince of Wales.
The former Manchester City goalkeeper was awarded the prestigious honour in the New Year’s Honours list for services to charitable fundraising.
Joe attended an Investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle with wife Val and their children.

Big Joe said: “You can’t describe the feelings and emotions. It was just incredible – a once in a lifetime moment.
“It was special to share the day with my family. My brother and my sister-in-law were over from America and staying not far from Windsor with their son, so we had our pictures taken outside.
“Unfortunately, my sister who lives in Australia, couldn’t make it across, but it was still such a fantastic day.”

Joe, from Tytherington, is a keen Hospice supporter. As president of City’s former players’ association, he supports several charities.
He said: “The Hospice is such an important part of the Macclesfield community. It’s an honour to be involved.”
Incredibly, Joe has met four generations of the royal family, a topic discussed with football-loving Prince William.
Joe said: “I played in a special game at Caernarfon in honour of King Charles for his investiture as the Prince of Wales in 1969.

“I mentioned that I played in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee game at Hampden Park in 1977 and how it was such a special day meeting the Queen and Prince Philip.
“I was also lucky enough to meet the Queen Mother at Wembley before the 1981 Centenary FA Cup Final.”
