Leading medical expert Dr Kathryn Mannix will share a fascinating insight into the world of palliative care at King’s School, Macclesfield, next month.
The much-anticipated event is hosted by BBC broadcaster Nick Robinson between 6.15 pm and 8.30 pm on Friday, March 13.
The visit has been organised by East Cheshire Hospice, which is inviting supporters to hear from the best-selling author.

Kathryn was a pioneer in palliative medicine, working as a consultant in hospices, hospitals and patients’ homes over three decades.
That vast experience led to her writing two books With The End in Mind and Listen, which is about finding the words for tender conversations.
On her website, kathrynmannix.com, Kathryn said: “I’ve spent my whole career working alongside dying people and learning from them.
“Now I want to share their wisdom with the world. I’m doing this by writing books and media articles, guesting on podcasts, lecturing and webcasting.”
The conversation between Nick Robinson, a Hospice patron, and Kathryn, an internationally acclaimed speaker, is bound to be informative and entertaining.
Kathryn said: “In a world where we have managed to overcome many challenges using technology and medical advances, there are still some difficult things that just won’t go away.

“We have no cure for death. We’re getting better at postponing it, but sooner or later it comes to us all. So, getting informed and prepared seems a good idea.
“We have no workarounds for daunting conversations. Whether we like it or not, sometimes we have to take a deep breath and get into a conversation that we might have preferred to avoid.”
The Hospice is delighted to have secured such a prestigious speaker.
Hospice Chief Executive Karyn Johnston said: “Kathryn’s mission is simple yet profound – to help us all face mortality with courage, dignity, and kindness.
“It’s a mission that we at East Cheshire Hospice completely support.”
The evening ends with a book signing. The venue is The Jackson Hall, King’s School, Alderley Road, Macclesfield, SK10 4SP. Admission is by registration via www.eastcheshirehospice.org.uk/an-evening-with-dr-kathryn-mannix
