Bed Appeal success!

You’ve done it!

The super supporters of East Cheshire Hospice have come to the charity’s aid in spectacular style.

Its Bed Appeal has now exceeded its target meaning patients will soon benefit from new specialist beds.

The Hospice needed to raise a mammoth £95,650 and has today announced that it has surpassed that total.

The exact figure will not be known for some time with donations towards the campaign still coming in.

But enough funds have been raised to allow the Hospice to upgrade the original planned specification for the beds.

These upgraded beds will cost around £144,500.

Every penny raised over and above what is needed to buy the beds will be used to provide first class compassionate care.

The appeal was only launched three months ago.

The Hospice sought the public’s help to replace all 15 inpatient beds and one in the Sunflower Living Well Centre.

The beds have been used constantly for 10 years and replacement parts are no longer available.

Head of fundraising Laura Tomlinson said: “Our loyal supporters have responded magnificently. We can’t thank them enough for their amazing generosity. We’re absolutely blown away by the success of the appeal.

“We’re so impressed by our community whose dedication and determination to help the Hospice is really quite staggering.

“We will forever be grateful for the way they’ve answered our plea for help.”

Hospice staff held a pyjama day to celebrate passing the fundraising target.

Pyjama days and Miles for Mattresses initiatives involved fundraisers covering various distances to raise sponsorship.

The Hospice also received donations in addition to sponsorship from fundraising activities.

Laura said: “The appeal is closing now we’ve reached our aim, but if you are currently fundraising for the appeal, or have plans in place, please do keep going.

“We still need to raise £9,362 a day to keep the Hospice running, so every penny will make a meaningful difference.”

The appeal featured on the Hospice’s social media channels and a mailshot campaign.

The Macclesfield Express also helped raise awareness by highlighting how much new specialist equipment was needed.

Clinical staff at the Hospice emphasised how beds are the most vital piece of equipment for end-of-life care, bringing comfort, dignity and safety to those at their most vulnerable. * To contact the Hospice fundraising team email fundraising@echospice.org.uk or call 01625 433477.
