A heartfelt thank you to Bed Appeal donors

Pippa Williams from East Cheshire Hospice has issued a heartfelt thank you on behalf of the charity to Bed Appeal donors.

Pippa, the Inpatient Unit Ward Manager, said: “I want to thank everyone who has donated so generously to our appeal. It’s so touching to see that our community have come through for us again.

“Your incredible support has made it possible for us to go ahead and buy new and upgraded beds. These beds will help us to provide the best possible care to our patients.”

One supporter, Nicky Childs, accepted the Miles for Mattresses challenge.

Walks with her loyal dog Juno raised £1,330 for the campaign. Nicky also crafted and sold beautiful Sunflower key rings to boost her total by another £245.

Meanwhile, staff at Tesco on Exchange Street put collection buckets in store. Customers rallied to the cause, donating £675.

An exercise bike challenge and selling bacon butties in the staff canteen was another way of generating funds.

A lung cancer patient on the inpatient unit experienced the benefit of a specialist bed.

His bed was taken outside to meet alpacas brought to the Hospice to entertain patients.

He also even went outdoors at night while in the comfort of his bed to see the stars, something he always enjoyed.

Pippa said: “These are the moments that matter and they’re only possible with the right equipment.”

All 16 beds will now be replaced with up-to-date models after a successful public appeal.
