We are seeking to recruit a motivated and compassionate individual who can demonstrate excellent communication skills with palliative patients, their carers/families and healthcare professionals.

Our new team member will:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support, inclusive of managing correspondence, entering data onto EMIS, processing and managing new referrals, taking incoming calls and secretarial/administrative work supporting senior medical team and hospice meetings.
  • Work predominantly in the Palliative care Advice Centre (PACE) and support the senior medical team/Community Consultant, as well as across other hospice clinical settings as the need arises.
  • Be the first point of contact for patients/healthcare professionals/carers
  • Be confident and empathetic when speaking with distressed patients/ families/carers/relatives and the bereaved over the phone or face to face
  • Communicate and liaise with all staff efficiently
  • Prioritise workload effectively
  • Support in the coordination of care for people with a life-limiting illness
  • Be confident liaising with a varied team of healthcare professionals.

What you will need:

  • Have excellent literacy and IT skills
  • Be familiar with the use of a variety of databases/software packages and be open to further training
  • Use their own initiative and be able to work effectively in a time-pressured environment
  • Be prepared to be flexible in their role
  • Be motivated, dynamic and personable, with the ability to work well within the existing multidisciplinary team
  • Have excellent communication skills – with patients, families & healthcare professionals
  • Be reliable, enthusiastic, motivated, and adaptable to change
  • Demonstrate resilience when dealing with challenging and stressful situations
