We have an exciting opportunity for a temporary Volunteering Services Lead to join our Workforce Team covering maternity leave for up to 12 months.

This vital role sits at the heart of our Hospice’s operations, supporting and celebrating the contributions of our valued volunteer workforce. Working within our busy and supportive office, which combines HR, Learning & Development, and volunteer coordination, you’ll lead on volunteer recruitment, ensure compliance with DBS checks and referencing, and manage our volunteer database in line with regulatory standards.

Your days will be varied and fulfilling; coordinating reception rotas, jumping in to support when needed, responding to wide-ranging queries, and organising two major annual events—our Christmas thank you celebration and summer long-service awards.

We’re looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a flexible and proactive attitude, excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook), and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.

Ready to make a real difference in a role where no two days are the same? We’d love to hear from you.

What we can offer you:

  • Access to employee support and supervision
  • 7 weeks paid holiday increasing upon length of service.
  • Free Parking at the Hospice
  • Comprehensive learning and development, with excellent training opportunities
  • Staff meals available at the Hospice
  • NHS Pension scheme for existing members. Workplace pension for non-NHS members
  • Employee support and wellbeing – We have a range of initiatives to support your health and wellbeing
  • We will cover the cost of your DBS check
  • Access to money saving offers via our very own ECH Sunflower Card and the NHS Blue Light Car

What you will need:

  • Excellent IT skills, including MS Teams, SharePoint, Excel & Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – demonstrating warmth, understanding and efficiency.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage time.

We welcome informal visits and pre-application discussion. To arrange a visit, or to discuss the role further please contact the HR Team 01625 789108.
