MND Wellbeing

About our MND Wellbeing Programme

This service is designed to support people with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and their carers.

The MND programme is held in our Sunflower Living Well Centre, which is a purpose built-centre for outpatients, carers and families, complete with its own entrance and reception.

The diagnosis of MND can come as an enormous shock to the person, their families and carers.  Everyone affected may feel anxious, fearful or isolated. We can help, by offering emotional and practical support, plus information and signposting.

What do we offer?

We offer a monthly programme of structured support for the person with MND and their carer. Due to limited staffing on this day, we can only meet the needs of patients who are either self caring or have their carer with them e.g. to help with feeding & toileting. We also encourage the carer to attend in order to support them in their own right.

The programme runs on the third Friday of the month, from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The group aims to provide a safe, relaxed environment where you can share problems, concerns or experiences with others who are in a similar situation.

How to access the programme

To access the service you need to be:

  • Diagnosed with MND/Caring for someone with MND
  • Living in East Cheshire
  • Living at home i.e. not care home or hospital
  • Able to transport yourself/arrange transport

An MND Wellbeing Referral form needs to be completed for the person with MND and the carer (if appropriate). Any health professional involved in your care can complete this referral. You can download the form below.
