Liz Thomas complete four rounds of golf in a single day!

Four rounds of golf in a single day earned Liz Thomas a place in the record books at Prestbury Golf Club.

The nine-handicapper became the first woman at the club to complete the 72-hole challenge on the longest day.

Her tireless efforts raised more than £6,000 for East Cheshire Hospice, the chosen charity of Lady Captain Caroline Harrison-Croft.

Caroline’s late mum Cathy Croft was cared for by the charity’s Hospice @Home service.

Liz lost only one ball registering scores of 89, 87, 85 and 91. She suffered one blister and covered 45,800 steps, burning almost 4,000 calories over nearly 13 hours.

Liz was joined by Caroline and Sarah Davies on her final round, with Ellen Cail, Nicky Markland and husband Michael her other partners.

Liz said: “We had a super day and the whole club got behind me, especially the ladies section.

“I had a great support team including caddies and other helpers. I also want to thank everyone who has sponsored me so generously.”

Liz even managed a gentle five mile run from her Tytherington home the next day to collect her car.

Caroline said: “Mum was supported magnificently by Hospice @Home during her last 10 days. I don’t think I could have managed without their help.

“Nurses visited at least twice a day and were a great help. I was so excited when Liz said she wanted to take on this challenge.

“I’m overwhelmed by the amount Liz has raised which has far exceeded my expectations.”
