Hospice Rocks hoping to raise more than £10,000 for the Hospice in honour of Maureen ‘Mo’ Bailey

Music fans are in for a treat when Hospice Rocks comes to Cinemac on Saturday, September 20.

A star line up headlined by Macclesfield band Virginmarys will raise funds for East Cheshire Hospice.

Maureen ‘Mo’ Bailey and husband Alan.

Groups will honour the memory of Maureen ‘Mo’ Bailey who died of cancer in March and spent her final days at the Hospice.

Husband Alan and son Stuart, who run Trackside Studios, have organised the event and are hoping to raise more than £10,000.

Alan said: “All the bands knew Mo and offered to help as soon as they knew it was for the Hospice.

“Rock musicians are supposed to have a bad reputation but far from it. They all volunteered their time straight away.

“It’ll be a great night with all proceeds from ticket sales going directly to provide Hospice care.”

The original Virginmarys line up, featuring Ally Dickaty, Matt Rose and Danny Dolan, will perform their album King of Conflict.

Drummer Danny is designing t-shirts with proceeds donated to the Hospice.

Snowdrop, Airheart, Sonic Jukebox and 3P Sweet, including one-time Virginmarys bass player Ross Massey, are also on the bill.

Mo was a machinist at Halle Models where she trained staff. She was married to Alan for 53 years.

Alan said: “The Hospice were incredible. We can’t thank them enough.

“I didn’t realise they have to find £9,362 a day to fund the care of patients. It’s wrong that they have raise so much money.”
