East Cheshire Hospice is explaining what difference donations to its Christmas @Home appeal will make to patients.
For example, £25 could pay for telephone calls offering emotional support to someone grieving around Christmas.
Or a gift of £60 could fill the tank of a Hospice @Home car, helping nurses reach patients in their own homes and care for them with compassion.
Demand for end-of-life care at home has increased significantly since the service was introduced in 2017.
The service is the focus of this year’s Christmas appeal which has a wish list of donations to benefit patients. For instance …
* £150 could enable the team to fulfil a patient’s wish to be at home this Christmas.
* £260 could fund a nurse to stay overnight, giving exhausted family members the gift of rest and peace of mind, knowing their loved one is safe and cared for.
* £595 could pay for the overnight Hospice @Home Rapid Response nursing team, meaning there is always someone on hand, whatever the time.

The service’s manager Tess Cleaver said: “People facing the end of life should have the choice to receive care wherever they feel most comfortable.
“Our team of experienced specialist nurses and highly trained healthcare assistants are here to provide patients and their families with more choice, control and peace of mind.
“Our team do everything they can to make precious moments possible, enhancing quality of life during what can be a profoundly challenging time.” * To donate visit www.eastcheshirehospice.org.uk/christmas-appeal-2025.
