The East Cheshire Hospice @Home service makes more than 1,200 visits to homes each year.
Reaching more people in the community is one of many proud achievements for Will Spinks, retiring Chair of the charity’s Trustee Board.
Will, from Bollington, said: “When you join the Hospice you want to leave it in a better place than when you arrived and in good hands for continuity.
“Since I joined the board in 2016 and became chair in 2018, we’ve expanded services significantly.
“We now help more people than ever before and that trend will continue.
“As examples, Hospice @Home went 24/7 for 365 days a year in April 2020 right at the start of the pandemic, while our dementia carers programme has increased fivefold.
“Expanding services requires more facilities. We added an additional wing to house Hospice @Home and also refurbished the Sunflower Centre which were two significant capital projects.
“Then, of course, you need the support of the community to finance that.
“We’ve also expanded fundraising activities substantially. An example is doubling our shops to six, with new shops in Poynton, Congleton and now in Knutsford.
“I’m sure there’ll be other things the Hospice ask me to do, but formally as a Trustee I’m timed out after nine years and that’s right in governance terms.
“That brings fresh thinking, fresh eyes and new thoughts. My successor Juliette White will bring all of that and maintain continuity.”
