Chess ICT is aiming to raise a record £10,000 for East Cheshire Hospice

Technology services provider Chess ICT is aiming to raise a record £10,000 for East Cheshire Hospice this year.

A step challenge in May raised around £6,500 with the company donating a pound for every 5,000 steps completed each day by its 260 employees.

Staff from across the UK walked, cycled or swam more than five million steps.

A 15-strong team from head office in Alderley Edge also took part in the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run.

Fun as well as fundraising was the theme.

A board member captaining the team completing the fewest steps had to do press ups on stage at last month’s company conference in Manchester.

Head of Culture Tim Wilkinson-Hall said: “A lot of people who work in Alderley Edge are Macclesfield based. Many have had family and friends who’ve been at the Hospice at some or another.

“That’s why we’re such big supporters of the Hospice which is one of 12 charities we donate to each year.

“In the past our May initiative was more of a local thing, but this year it was rolled out nationally and everyone bought into it.”

Chess ICT organises a well-being initiative in January as part of its fundraising initiative. It is also planning another event later in the year.

Chess ICT has also installed a new cloud-based telephone system at the Hospice as part of its partnership with the charity.
