Open Garden parties could be your fundraising event this summer

Why not host a garden party for charity at your house this summer?

You can select the theme and date, and it can be in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.

It could be simply to show off your garden to visitors, especially if you are a green-fingered enthusiast.

But for others it might just be an excuse for a party and to raise money for a good cause.

Hospice supporters Julie and Bill North stood smiling at the camera in their garden with flowers and garden furniture in the background.

Hospice supporters Julie and Bill North have regularly hosted Open Garden events.

For instance, it could be BBQ and beers, a kids’ summer party, an afternoon tea or a Prosecco and pizza night.

Emma Bate, community and events assistant at East Cheshire Hospice, said: “Hosting an open garden party is an enjoyable and inspiring way to help support us.

“You can pick any date, though weekends are best and May through to August is the most popular time.

“For garden lovers, whether your space is big or small, wild or manicured, opening it up for a day is a wonderful way to celebrate nature, connect with others and support your local Hospice.

“There’s no need for perfection, just a welcoming open space where visitors can appreciate your handiwork.”

Ideas for activities include a drink stall, bake sale, raffle or tombola, scavenger hunt, garden games or nature trail, craft activity, plant sale, handmade goods sale and a book stall.

Emma said: “We’re here to guide you and have supporter kit packs available. We also have tips on how to promote your event if it’s open to the public.”
