Volunteer Complementary Therapist
Hours:A couple of hours a week
Location:East Cheshire Hospice
Our voluntary Complementary Therapists deliver Massage, Indian Head Massage and Reflexology to our Sunflower Daycare centre patients, making a real difference to stress levels, headache, tension and supporting their general wellbeing.
You’ll ideally be able to offer a couple of hours per week – but we’re happy to fit around your availability if that’s not possible, we’ll need you to be fully qualified, and but our insurance will cover your work here, and there’s a comprehensive induction and support package to make sure you feel well supported during your work with us.

The Volunteer Ward Assistant will assist in-patients and staff with day-to-day activities on the ward such as serving meals and refreshments, helping with bed-making and laundry. This is a vital role which helps to improve our patient’s over-all experience by creating a relaxed and friendly environment for patients and their families. It may involve assisting at mealtimes with guidance from nursing staff, activities may include: handing out food trays, offering hand gel/hand washing facilities, providing fresh drinks, refilling water jugs, cutting up food, assisting with feeding patients, helping patients complete menu cards, collecting used trays.
The following skills are required:
- Previous experience of working in a health care setting is desirable but not essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and seek support where required
- Willing to undertake delegated duties but work on own initiative when required

Fundraising Support Group Member
Support Groups are friendly teams of local people who work together to raise funds for the Hospice through organising bake sales, events, coffee mornings, distributing collection boxes – the ideas are endless!
The group can consist of two people or one hundred people and roles can vary within the group, such as Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and Volunteers. You will be supported every step of the way by your contact at the Hospice and is a great way of getting involved in the local community, meet new friends and learn new hobbies.

We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and committed people who enjoy dealing with members of the public and being part of a team. The Hospice is a caring organisation, and you’ll be joining a team of volunteers who often deal with people at a difficult time in their lives. We take donations with great sensitivity and treat our customers with warmth, gratitude and support, as well as providing a professional and efficient retail service and being an important part of funding the Hospice.

Our companions help to deliver amazing care for people in the early stages of dementia as well as giving their carers a few hours break. We’re looking for volunteers who enjoy the company of others; can have a good laugh as well as being caring and compassionate. You don’t need to have had any previous experience of working with people with dementia but a willingness to learn is essential. You will be matched up with a person of similar interests for a couple of hours per week or per fortnight. No personal care is involved, and full support will be given to you throughout training and volunteering, so you can concentrate on enjoying making a real difference to the life of the person and their carer.
