Light Up A Life Service

A giant teepee in the snow-covered grounds of East Cheshire Hospice was the perfect winter setting for an emotional Light Up A Life service.#

More than 100 supporters attended the remembrance service to celebrate the life of someone special.

A large firepit brought a warm  glow as singers from the Hospice’s Claritas Choir added a festive touch to the occasion with the service led by Hospice Chaplain Margaret Lillis.

The Light Up A Life Appeal involves dedicating a light to a loved one in memory of those no longer with us. It is still not too late to support the appeal.

Families who make a donation receive a card bauble which can be personalised with memories of loved ones. Hundreds of baubles will hang from the Christmas tree in the Hospice chapel until Twelfth Night.

Events Manager Jo Boyd said:  "Light Up A Life is a wonderful way to honour the memory of those we have lost, while helping others who may be facing their final Christmas together.

"This was the second year we've held the service in a specially-erected teepee at the Hospice and once again it proved an extremely popular location."

The Hospice is also running its popular Christmas Wish List Appeal to support vital care over the seasonal period.

For example, a £55 donation provides a pre-bereavement therapy session for a child; £100 funds a complementary therapy session for a patient and a loved one, and £225 covers the cost of Hospice @Home support on Christmas Day, allowing a patient to remain in the comfort of their own home.
