Lord Digby Jones helps the Hospice

High profile businessman Lord Digby Jones has urged the corporate community to support the new East Cheshire Hospice @Home service.

He visited Alderley Park Conference Centre to help highlight the service which starts this month and addressed Cheshire business leaders about post-Brexit Britain.

Lord Jones, a former Director General of the CBI, said it was vital the UK seized the initiative as it negotiates its exit from the European Union which he has vast experience of dealing with.

East Cheshire Hospice @Home hosted the gathering of 160 business people, with Lord Jones generously agreeing to be key note speaker.

His appearance provided a timely opportunity for the Hospice to raise awareness of the need for corporate backing to fund its core care costs.

He was welcomed by Dr Simon Hayward, CEO of business management company Cirrus, and Chairman and Ambassador of East Cheshire Hospice @Home.

Hospice @Home aims to support 250 patients in its first year, allowing patients to remain where they often prefer to be and reduce costly hospital stays.

April Green, the Hospice's Corporate Fundraiser, said: "This was the first time we've created a specific event for the corporate world and we were delighted to secure the services of Lord Jones.

"I'm sure it'll encourage local companies to offer further support  for the palliative care services we provide as we try to progress our Hospice @Home service."

Lord Jones, a cross bench Peer, also signed copies of his recently published book 'Fixing Business: Making Profitable Business Work for The Good of All.'
