Hospice Quiz Night

Incognito were certainly not undercover when they won the East Cheshire Hospice quiz recently.

The winning team, made up mostly of teachers from Marlborough Primary School, held off the challenge from 15 other teams at the ever popular quarterly fund-raising event.

Raising £2300 for the Hospice, the event was attended by about 140 people who enjoyed catering supplied by Hospice chef, Rob Kind, and his kitchen team and beer donated by Macclesfield brewers, Storm Brewing.

Asking the questions were regular quiz masters Paul Morrissey, vice chair of the Hospice trustees, and Mark Watson, who helps organise the Macclesfield Pub Quiz League.

Organiser Alison Brammer said: "Once again, we had a great turn-out – the room was packed. And with the help and support of donations and a free venue, we seem to be raising more and more money each event.”

Alison, who has been a volunteer ward clerk with the Hospice for several years, says she enjoys organising the events which are usually held 3 times a year. Nik Kalka, who runs the bar, has been a fellow organiser since 2013.

"I went along to one as a contestant about four years ago and thought I’d like to help out. It’s a fun way to raise much-needed funds for the great work of the Hospice.”

The next quiz is in March. Teams are eight maximum and anyone interested in taking part can call the Hospice fundraising team on 01625 433477.
