Join us for Carers Week

Do you care for a friend, relative or neighbour?

If so, come along to East Cheshire Hospice from 10 till 2 pm this Saturday (June 13).

The Hospice is celebrating the work carried out by our unsung heroes as part of Carers Week.

There is no requirement for carers to have a Hospice link.

Families are welcome, admission is free and refreshments are provided.

Fun activities, including arts and crafts and games, will take place in the Sunflower Living Well Centre.

Free half-hour complementary therapies can be booked in advance through Lynn Gillibrand, Clinical Co-ordinator at the centre. Email lynn.gillibrand@echospice.org.uk or call 01625 665685.

Lynn said: “Carers play a massive role in different ways and their support is invaluable.

“It may be collecting shopping, taking someone to a hospital appointment and providing help, comfort and everyday support.

“Carers who already visit regularly are welcome, as are those with no connection.

“People are free to chat to others and share experiences, or they may prefer some quiet with time to themselves.

“People might not realise we are here, while some possibly newly diagnosed with a life-limiting illness haven’t yet thought about coming here.

“People often underestimate what unpaid carers do and the challenges they face. This is a chance to celebrate their selfless commitment to others.”

A separate well-being afternoon of relaxation is held on June 11 for carers with established links to the Hospice.
