East Cheshire Hospice is based in Macclesfield and supports patients with life limiting illnesses and their families. Our mission is “to provide the highest quality of care and support to the people we serve”.   

We are looking for a Governance and Compliance Lead to provide professional and confidential co-ordination and administrative support to the Senior Management Team and the Board of Trustees for the purpose of keeping the Governance structures and processes of East Cheshire Hospice up-to-date, compliant and ethical. 

The role involves supporting the governing board by providing guidance on governance legislation, regulatory frameworks, and trustee responsibilities. This includes preparing and facilitating board and committee meetings, organising strategy days, and ensuring compliance with best practice standards such as the Charity Governance Code. The postholder will manage policies and risk registers, seek external advice when needed, and support trustee engagement through induction and ongoing development.

What you will need:

  • Specialist knowledge of Governance frameworks and how they operate
  • Demonstratable experience in co-ordinating disparate committees to achieve a common outcome
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Training will be given on site-specific software packages e.g. Vantage
  • Ability to develop, administer and co-ordinate the updating and ratification of policies to support governance best practice within the organisation
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritise and deal with conflicting demands and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to act in a diplomatic, confidential, credible and effective manner whilst interacting with senior leadership bodies.
