Help someone have more good days.

That is the message from Sian Henderson, manager of the Sunflower Living Well Centre at East Cheshire Hospice.

Sian is appealing for help from supporters for the charity’s More Good Days campaign.

A letter to 6,000 households and shared on social media is accompanied by a leaflet highlighting the support for Linda Picken-Broom and Jean Marshall and their late husbands, Alan and David.

Their stories show how the Sunflower Centre makes living with a life-limiting illness a little easier, improving quality of life and bringing comfort and care in a person’s final year.

Appeal proceeds could help maintain those essential services.

Sian said: “When someone is told they have a life-limiting illness, it can feel like everything changes overnight.

“The future may suddenly feel uncertain, confidence may disappear and everyday life may become overwhelming and harder to navigate.

“However, at the Sunflower Centre, something special happens. People can begin to have more good days again.

“It is where patients, their families and carers, find the support they need to live well after diagnosis.

“From therapies to enhance wellbeing, to practical advice and emotional support, the centre helps people to rebuild confidence and find a safety net they may not know they needed.”

Jean said: “I can’t begin to think how life would’ve been without the Sunflower Centre.”

They both recently attended the Hospice Share, Talk and Reflect (STAR) group together. “We’re at the same stage in our grief,” they explained.
