Handmade Goods Thank You 2018

Beautiful gifts crafted by the skilled hands of East Cheshire Hospice supporters are raising more funds than ever to help fund patient care.

The handmade goods are produced by a team of around 40 enthusiastic helpers who kindly spend their spare time at home creating their works of art.

Their enterprising efforts have generated a bumper £11,000 in sales over the last 12 months.

This team cleverly knit, crochet and sew, putting those traditional skills to good use in aid of the Hospice.

The products are sold in various outlets, including hair salons, coffee shops, Specsavers and schools.

Easter was a busy time for the group whose 'humpties' - little knitted men with creme eggs in their tummies - were in big demand.

The supporters meet twice a year at the Hospice to share ideas and patterns for forthcoming projects.

The get-togethers are also an opportunity for the charity to thank them for all their hard work which is co-ordinated by Community Fundraiser Lisa Ball and Fundraising Assistant Mel Fisher.

Lisa said: "The revenue we receive from handmade goods is vital income for the care of Hospice patients, so we're extremely grateful for this wonderful support.

"This type of fundraising has grown significantly over the last three years and they make all kinds of lovely items, including door stops, aprons, baby clothes, cards and crafts.

"A lot of items are shabby chic style and they're especially busy before Christmas. It's mostly ladies who make the crafts but some men are involved as well."
