Dance marathon raise money for East Cheshire Hospice

A nightclub-style dance marathon saw fitness enthusiasts raise £700 for East Cheshire Hospice.

The special Clubbercise at Christ The King Primary School, Macclesfield, included aerobic, toning and combat exercises.

The three-hour workout was organised by fitness instructor Lauren Knight to mark 10 years of classes.

A dozen energetic women ranging from teenagers to sixty somethings were put through their paces.

Lauren said: “I wanted to mark the anniversary with an event and after a vote to decide the charity to support the Hospice was the unanimous winner.

“It’s a great local cause and a lot of the participants in my classes have had friends and relatives looked after by the Hospice. I’ve also had someone cared for by them.”

Lauren runs classes every Wednesday at All Saints Church and has a group at the Poynton Legion Club on Tuesdays.

Lauren said: “Clubbercise is a full body workout to club anthems. It takes place in the dark with glow sticks and in a club-like atmosphere.”

“It was exhausting but enjoyable, especially we were raising money for such a brilliant cause. Everyone entered into the spirit of the event.”

Details of the Lauren Knight Fitness classes can be found on Facebook.
