Alisha Brookes takes on iconic bungee jump

Alisha Brookes chose one of the world’s most iconic bungee jumps to celebrate her 21st birthday.

She leapt off the top of the Verzasca Dam in Switzerland, a famous location from the James Bond film Golden Eye.

Alisha plucked up the courage in memory of her grandma Eileen Burgess, a patient at East Cheshire Hospice almost a year ago.

The travel consultant has raised more than £1,500 for the Hospice from her daredevil stunt.

Alisha, from Macclesfield, said: “The Hospice gave incredible care to my grandma, supporting our family through a tough time. They also made sure my grandad, Trevor, was comfortable as well.

“I wanted to give something back and plan more fundraising for them.

“I was too scared to jump at first and seeing others before me didn’t help. But after a few attempts, and some deep breaths, I went over the edge.

“The dam is 220 metres high and there was a freefall of seven and a half seconds before the cord caught up.”

Mum and dad Tracy and Adrian, brother Nathan and boyfriend Aaron Ollier were there to cheer her on.

Alisha said: “They gave me a pep talk. I’ve done sky diving before, but this was different and it went quiet during the freefall.

Alisha did a sky dive for her 18th birthday, a wing walk for her 19th and paraglide and paramotor flights last year.

She said: “They were great experiences, but this was the big one.” * To sponsor Alisha visit https://www.justgiving.com/page/alisha-brookes-1
