Driving wind and rain failed to deter Sharon Bailey and Martin Quigley on their Peak District adventure.
The pair were determined to complete a 20-mile charity walk around Edale Valley in memory of Keith Ball.
Daughter Sharon and son-in-law Martin have raised more than £3,000 for East Cheshire Hospice which cared for Keith in the comfort of his own home.
Keith, a painter and decorator, died of leukaemia last year, aged 73. His parents ran Ball’s Chippy on Hibel Road.

Sharon, a dog groomer, said: “The walk was a real challenge because we had some harsh weather thrown at us as we reached the top of Kinder Scout. The gale force winds and rain stayed with us for about five hours.
“The walk took nine hours and I’m glad I trained for it otherwise I don’t think I’d have completed it.”
Sharon and Martin, a window cleaner, were part of an organised group and thankfully had a guide.

Sharon said: “There was a great sense of pride and exhilaration when we reached the finish. Our family were there waiting to meet us and we had a nice cold shandy in the little pub next door.
“We’d like to thank everyone who donated. People have been so generous, and we’ve been blown away by their kindness.
“The fact it was the Hospice helped. Everyone can relate to it in one way or another.”
