Starlight Walk 2018 Review

A record turnout made the Starlight Walk an overwhelming success for East Cheshire Hospice. More than 770 walkers strolled through the picturesque grounds of Capesthorne Hall last Friday.

A lovely warm spring evening helped create a wonderful atmosphere for one of the highlights of the Hospice's 30th birthday celebrations.

The route took walkers through a forest, some opting for one 2.5k loop while others covered two of four circuits. The event was sponsored by Ford dealers Sidney Jackson.

The Hall was illuminated, adding to the occasion and a fire pit offered walkers a place to relax and reflex en route.

Memory lanterns  were lit in memory of loved ones, providing a poignant tribute. Pebbles were also dropped into the lake.

There was lots to entertain the crowds with stalls and fun activities enjoyed by families.

Jo Boyd, Events Manager at the Hospice, said: "We couldn't have wished for a better night and would like to thank everyone who helped us celebrate our 30th birthday.

"We were lucky enough to have a fantastic venue which helped create an incredible atmosphere. The weather was kind as well which was a bonus.

"We'd like to thank all the volunteers who worked so hard to make the evening a success, including teams from Barclays and the Air Cadets. Sidney Jackson provided terrific sponsorship again and we'd also like to thank McDonalds for donating water and snacks."

Organisers are encouraging walkers to collect sponsorship to help work out how much the evening raised.
