Physiotherapy Service
Our physiotherapy service presently operates Monday to Thursday. We have a part-time physiotherapist and a part-time physiotherapy assistant.Physiotherapy treatments can be carried out on the ward, in day care or in the physiotherapy room, based in the day care unit. We occasionally see people in their own homes, but are more likely to refer to the Community Physiotherapy team for this.
Physiotherapy can help to address a variety of problems, including pain, breathlessness, fatigue, weakness, musculo-skeletal problems, poor mobility, difficulty with home activities such as climbing stairs, getting in and out of bed and so on.
The treatments we offer include general exercises, breathing exercises, advice on fatigue management such as energy conservation measures and relaxation, TENS, acupuncture, massage, heat or ice packs, walking re-education, stair practice, balance work, stretching or provision of equipment. A listening ear is offered at all times!
